Vivica A. Fox - Actress arrested for drunken driving
03/22/07
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actress Vivica A. Fox, known for roles in movies such as "Independence Day" and "Kill Bill: Vol. 1," was arrested on suspicion for drunken driving in Los Angeles, police said on Wednesday.
Fox, 42, was stopped late on Tuesday night on a freeway in her Cadillac sports utility vehicle after passing a marked police car going 80 mph (129 kph) -- 15 miles faster than the speed limit. She also was unable to stay in the correct lane, according to the arrest report from the California Highway Patrol.
After being stopped, the actress was unable to perform a sobriety test and her breath indicated a blood alcohol level over the legal limit of 0.08 percent, the report stated.
Fox was cited for driving under the influence and released. A court date has not yet been set.
Fox is currently starring in the television drama "Missing" on the U.S. cable TV network Lifetime, and she was recently a contestant on popular U.S. television contest "Dancing With the Stars."

Vivica A. Fox - Regrets arrest for drunken driving
06/10/07
Vivica A. Fox says she regrets her arrest for drunken driving because "it's on your record for 10 years."
The 42-year-old actress was charged in March with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit.
"It was a huge learning lesson. I won't ever make that mistake again," Fox said Friday night backstage at the Kodak Theatre, where she was a presenter for the Daytime Emmy Awards. "Trust me, I'm going to hire a driver next time."
Fox said she is in the process of trying to resolve her legal problems.
"It was an unfortunate judgment that I am taking full responsibility in," she said. "It is so not worth what you go through for getting a DUI."
Fox was arrested after passing a patrol car on the Hollywood Freeway at 80 mph and subsequently failing a field sobriety test, the California Highway Patrol said.
Breath tests indicated her blood-alcohol level was greater than .08 percent, California's legal limit for a driver.
Fox said she empathized with Paris Hilton, who is serving jail time for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.
"We are not above the law," Fox said about celebrities. "She's going to get more coverage when her butt gets out of jail. It's going to be a special alert and we all are going to watch, right?"
Fox, a contestant on last year's "Dancing with the Stars," has appeared in such films as "Kill Bill: Vol. 1," "Soul Food" and "Independence Day."

Vivica A. Fox - Pleads Not Guilty to DUI
SEPTEMBER 27, 2007
Vivica A. Fox pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor counts of DUI in a Van Nuys, Calif. courthouse on Thursday.
The actress did not appear in court. The plea was entered by her attorney, Richard Hutton, who previously represented Paris Hilton.
On March 20, Fox was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Around 11 p.m., a patrol car noticed Fox's silver Cadillac SRX traveling on a Los Angeles freeway at about 80 mph in a 65-mph zone, and she was unable to drive within her lane, CHP spokesman Leland Tang said.
"Fox exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication," said Tang. "A field sobriety test was administered and she scored over 0.08," which is the legal limit in California.
If convicted on both charges, Fox faces a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Fox, 43, appeared on Dancing with the Stars and the films Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Soul Food.
A trial date was set for Oct. 29.

Vivica A. Fox - Booked on DUI charge in LA
Dec 5, 2007
LOS ANGELES - Former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Vivica A. Fox waltzed into a San Fernando Valley police station Wednesday and was booked for investigation of drunken driving. Fox, 43, was ordered by a judge on Monday to turn herself in or face a warrant for her arrest.
At about 12:15 p.m., Fox went into a police station in Northridge, where she was fingerprinted and photographed, police Officer Ana Aguirre said.
The booking process took under 25 minutes and Fox was released without bail, Aguirre said.
A call to Fox's manager seeking comment was not immediately returned Wednesday.
Fox was stopped in the Valley on March 20 by California Highway Patrol officers who said her 2007 Cadillac Escalade was doing 80 mph and weaving on the Ventura Freeway.
During her arrest, the black actress accused one officer of being a "racist white cop," according to a CHP report.
In September, Fox pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit of .08.
If convicted, she could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Vivica Fox spared jail time in DUI case
12/07/07
LOS ANGELES - Vivica A. Fox on Friday became the latest celebrity to enter a plea deal with prosecutors to settle a drunken driving case, authorities said.
The actress and former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit of .08, city attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan said.
A Superior Court judge sentenced Fox to three years probation and ordered her to enter a 90-day alcohol education program. She also must pay a $390 fine, Mateljan said.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped a charge of misdemeanor driving under the influence, which carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail.
A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but means the defendant will not fight the charges.
A call to Fox's attorney, Richard Hutton, was not immediately returned.
Fox, 43, was stopped in March in the San Fernando Valley after her 2007 Cadillac Escalade passed a California Highway Patrol car, according to a CHP report. She failed a series of sobriety tests, the report said.
Fox said later that she regretted the incident.
"I won't ever make that mistake again," she told reporters in June. "Trust me, I'm going to hire a driver next time."
Earlier this week, actors Kiefer Sutherland, Ray Liotta and Gary Collins pleaded no contest to resolve their DUI cases.
Sutherland and Collins were sentenced to jail. Liotta, who pleaded no contest to reckless driving for crashing into two parked cars, was placed on three years probation.
