Prison Fellowship Ministries

Marty Angelo and Charles W. Colson - 1986

Assistant Aftercare Director - Washington DC - 1986-1988

Los Angeles Area Director - 1988-1990

Prison Fellowship Ministries was founded by Chuck Colson, who served as special counsel to President Nixon and went to prison in 1975 for Watergate-related crimes. When Colson got out of prison, God radically redirected this former attorney’s career goals—leading him to go back to prison, this time to minister to the men and women behind bars. Established in 1976, Prison Fellowship has grown into the largest prison ministry in the world, partnering with thousands of churches and tens of thousands of volunteers.

Excepts

"God then opened yet another door, which turned out to be all the way back
across the country, in Reston, Virginia. I started working with Prison Fellowship
Ministries in April 1986.

Chuck Colson, the well-known aide to former president Richard
Nixon, had founded Prison Fellowship ten years earlier. I had gotten to know some of
the Prison Fellowship representatives when I was in Lexington. I had attended several of
PF’s in-prison seminars and Bible studies and was chosen by them to represent my prison at
a two-week Washington discipleship program..."

"PF hired me to go around the United States and set up after-care groups for ex-cons
once they got out.."
