Malibu Residents Fight Back Against Celebrity Rehabs

Malibu Residents Fight Back Against Celebrity Rehabs

By MICHAEL HOROWICZ

Jul 21, 2009

Not everyone likes the idea of stars such as Mel Gibson, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears visiting their neighborhood.

Angry Malibu residents say they are being overrun by rehab houses and they want the city to do something about it. They are asking for legislation to be enacted and enforced that would restrict the proliferation and clustering of rehab houses. According to the group, the city of 13,000 resident currently has 50 rehab houses.

The group claims rehab center patients have set fires, robbed pharmacies and harassed neighbors.

The residents complain that staff members parking near these rehab homes are creating a safety hazard.
