Lindsay Lohan Not Found in Violation of Probation Despite Failed Alcohol Test

Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan was back on the legal chopping block again on Thursday after testing positive for alcohol consumption while still under probation.

She is currently serving 120 days under house arrest, which she was sentenced to after pleading no contest to stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice boutique while still under probation for a 2007 DUI charge. This time she caught a break, however, when it was found that the judge who required her to undergo controlled substances testing only required her to do so through Feb. 25.

“She's in compliance with the rules and laws of the State of California. She has obeyed all laws, she has done nothing wrong. You know, I feel like you guys are all disappointed to hear that, but the reality is she's done everything right this time,” said Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Holley, during a press conference.

According to TMZ, Lindsay is no longer restricted in what she can drink, but she is only allowed to have one friend over at any given time, plus any family members.

Lohan has become as infamous for the trouble she makes as she is famous for her movies. She worked on a soap opera at age 10 and made her silver screen debut in the 1998 remake of “The Parent Trap” at age 11. As a young adult she appeared in films such as “Freaky Friday,” “Mean Girls,” and “Herbie: Fully Loaded,” and also pursued work as a singer.

In 2007, though, she was caught driving under the influence twice and her time in and out of rehab has been widely documented. Though she has made some television and movie appearances in the last few years, her career has lost traction. In February, she was charged with felony grand theft, later reduced to a misdemeanor, after being accused of taking the aforementioned necklace, according to TMZ.

Despite her legal innocence in this particular case, many people are still being critical of Lohan. Chelsea Handler posted on E! Online the following about Lohan, “So not only did she get out of a sticky predicament, she was given a free pass to suck down as much vodka as she is able to.”

A.J. Hammer, host of Showbiz Tonight on HLN said, “Now, this wasn't a probation violation for her to be drinking at home, but if you ask me it was just remarkably stupid.” Hammer's guest, judge Mablean Ephriam, agreed and said, “I would simply say to her that you are not taking your probation seriously, and you are not concerned about what's happening with you.” She later added, “I think that she is not taking it seriously at all because her consequences have not been severe to her at all, and she keeps partying and having fun.”

Enter Marty Angelo, a former drug addict and prison inmate, who is now a prison minister and was asked by Lohan's father, Michael, to try to help her several years ago. Angelo's attempts at reaching and helping Lohan were detailed in an earlier Christian Post article, but what he said back then still applies to Lohan today.

"I had the same problem, back in the 60s and 70s,” said Angelo, who worked a number of different jobs in the entertainment business. “I feel somewhat of an obligation to reaching out to them and telling them about Jesus. I've been trying over the last four years to convince her (Lohan) that Jesus can change her life."

His ministry today focuses on sharing the Gospel with prison inmates, and working with those recovering from substance abuse and “troubled celebrities.” martyangelo.com, the website for Marty Angelo Ministries, explains how only Jesus was able to fill the void in his heart that worldly success could not. He hopes that Lohan and other celebrities would also meet Christ, just as he did.
