Lane Garrison - Actor drunk and on drugs in fatal crash
BEVERLY HILLS--Lane Garrison , a former actor on the hit drama “Prison Break”, was found to have had cocaine, as well as, twice the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream at the time of the fatal crash he was involved in last month.
According to police, Garrison’s blood alcohol level was .20 which is two times the California state legal limit of .08. He also had levels of cocaine in his system, as well at the time of the crash.
Garrison crashed his Land Rover on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills in December, killing a 17 year old boy and seriously injuring two 15 year old girls. Police suspected that alcohol may have been the cause of the crash, due to the discovery of alcohol containers in Garrison’s SUV.
The charge of felony vehicular manslaughter is bring presented as possible punishment for his crime. The case was given to the district attorney’s office of Los Angeles, but no decisions on prosecution have been presented. The police recommended a charge of gross vehicular manslaughter, as well as, charges that address Garrison’s part in the underage drinking and drug use of minors.
If Garrison is found guilty of gross vehicular manslaughter, which resulted in death, he could face ten or more years in state prison with additional charges for providing illegal substances to minors. Garrison’s attorney has continued to profess that his client was not driving while impaired and that his vehicle may have had mechanical defects that contributed to the crash.
