John Mobley - Former Denver Broncos Football Player to Serve Jail Time for DUI Conviction DENVER - Monday, 16 Apr 2007 Colorado's Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal from former Denver Broncos linebacker John Mobley, who was sentenced to seven days in jail for a drunken driving conviction. Prosecutors had said Mobley would not have to serve his sentence until his appeal was complete. It was unclear when he might be jailed. Mobley's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, did not immediately return a call to The Associated Press for comment. Defense attorneys had implied during Mobley's trial in 2004 that his conviction was the result of racial profiling. They argued that Mobley failed the sobriety test because of a concussion and other football injuries. Mobley was released by the Broncos in late July 2004 because of a lingering neck injury. He hasn't returned to the NFL.
