On Celebrity Rehab, the wheelchair-bound, raging Conaway is seen addicted to alcohol and painkillers. He recently sustained substantial injuries as a result of lifting boxes in his home. It was said by Dr. Drew Pinsky on Celebrity Rehab that Conaway's bad back has been detrimental to his sobriety. Faced with the need for surgery, Conaway opted to leave the rehab facility during the series' seventh episode.

Jeff Conaway - "Grease" star plans a second stint in Celebrity Rehab

2008-03-07

Troubled "Grease" star Jeff Conaway is planning a second stint on hard-hitting U.S. reality show Celebrity Rehab, despite quitting the program days before completing his televised treatment.

The actor - who played Kenickie in the iconic 1978 musical movie - was struggling with severe cocaine, painkiller and alcohol addictions when he signed up to appear with other fallen stars on psychologist Dr. Drew Pinsky's TV experiment.

He quit the program early when the facility which housed himself and others, like fellow actor Daniel Baldwin, reportedly ran out of the pain medication he needed.

But Conaway isn't opposed to returning to Celebrity Rehab for a planned second season.
He says, "It's not over, I'm gonna go back in." The actor admits he no longer feels like a suicidal lost cause, thanks to Dr. Pinsky's treatment, and help from former Grease co-star John Travolta, who has come to his aid since his rehab stint.

Conaway insists the recent death of his mother made him realize how far he has come: "I miss her a lot, but I didn't go back to using over that." The fallen star admits he still needs to work on his painkiller addiction and that's why he'd like to return to Celebrity Rehab.

Grease Star Conaway Drunk at Age Three

Troubled Grease star Jeff Conaway owes his alcohol addiction to a boozy childhood - he first got drunk when he was three.

The actor, who is currently battling drinking, cocaine and painkiller issues, admits his family had a very liberal approach to alcohol.

He says, "My grandmother used to make beer in the bathtub and we'd drink together; we'd sit there and suck on the hose and drink this deep dark brown beer that she would make.

"The first time I got drunk, I was three; I drank a bottle of sherry. I thought it tasted like ice-cream." Conaway is hoping to kick his alcohol addiction with help from celebrity psychologist Dr. Drew Pinsky and former Grease co-star John Travolta, who recently introduced the troubled star to a Church of Scientology addiction treatment program.

Conaway was among the stars who took part in Dr. Pinsky's reality TV hit Celebrity Rehab, but he quit the televised treatment early. He now hopes to return to the show for a planned second season.
