Prison Minister Marty Angelo Reaches Out to Lindsay Lohan
With Lindsay Lohan's probation hearing set for February 23, 2011, Prison Minister Marty Angelo of Marty Angelo Outreach Ministry to Prisons, Substance Abuse Recovery Programs and Troubled Celebrities, sent a letter to
Lindsay Lohan on February 9, suggesting a faith-based residential treatment program to the young actress. This was not the first time Angelo has reached out to Lohan.
Michael Lohan Asks Prison Minister Marty Angelo to Help Lindsay
In 2007, Lindsay Lohan's father sent a letter to Minister Angelo asking him to reach out to
Lindsay. Michael Lohan asked the prison pastor to send Lindsay and her mother, Dina, a copy of Angelo's book, "Once Life Matters: A New Beginning." Michael Lohan told Angelo he had read the book while he was in prison and at Teen Challenge in NYC.
Angelo responded by sending a copy of his book to Lindsay and Dina Lohan. He also wrote Lindsay a couple of letters offering to serve her jail time if she would enroll in a complete a 12-month faith-based residential treatment program. Since then Angelo has stayed in touch with the Lohans, making numerous other attempts to reach out to
Lindsay, sending her books written by former drug addicts, and even accompanying Michael Lohan to one of
Lindsay's court appearances.
Lohan is Not an Addict
In August of 2010, Angelo stated in a press release: "Lohan is not an addict. This is why I first approached Lohan in 2007. I feel her root issues are spiritual in nature and can be easily overcome in a 12-month faith-based residential treatment center."
Lohan Charged with Felony Grand Theft
On February 9, Angelo sent Lindsay Lohan another letter immediately after the actress was charged with felony grand theft for allegedly stealing a $2500.00 necklace from a Venice California jewelry store. Angelo's latest letter reads in part:
Prison Minister Marty Angelo's Letter to Lindsay Lohan
"It truly saddens me to hear of your pending new charge of felony grand theft. It seems not much has changed since 2007 when I first reached out to you after your father, Michael called me and asked me to send you and your mother a copy of my book...
"These new charges you are facing did not have to come to pass had you taken up my offers. You are taking 'a road of least resistance' that most substance abusers take thinking they can 'fix themselves' by only going to a 30-day secular rehab. Those programs have a very low success rate which you are proving. You need at least 12-months of faith-based treatment to finally beat your troubles."
Lindsay Lohan
As reported in Lindsay Lohan - is Actress, Singer Lindsay Lohan a Drug Addict or Lost Girl?
Lindsay Lohan has been a media figure since she starred in Disney's 1998 remake of The Parent Trap when she was 11. In 2004, while shooting Herbie: Fully Loaded, she was hospitalized with a kidney infection and stress, and from this point on, the troubled actress has struggled with drug abuse and emotional issues.
Lindsay Lohan has pleaded not guilty to the felony grand theft and is free on bond. Her probation has been revoked, and her probation hearing is scheduled for February 23, 2011. It would be good to see
Lindsay Lohan get the help she obviously needs.
Lindsay Lohan's Nashville Connection
Lohan has a potential Nashville connection as it was announced in December of 2010 that Lindsay Lohan is working with Big Machine Records to record a country album. Big Machine Records was founded in late 2005 by Nashville music industry veteran Scott Borchetta, who serves as President & CEO. The company is headquartered in Nashville.
