Can this girl survive prison? God references enter the Paris media circus with Walters, others

By Damara Popoola

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 6/11/07 - Not everyone felt justice was served when It-girl Paris Hilton was sent back to prison to finish out her sentence. In an effort to get Hilton the help he thinks she needs, prison minister Marty Angelo announced Saturday that he would be willing to serve the starlet’s remaining jail sentence so she could be released to an alternative treatment program.

In the letter, faxed to Judge Michael Sauer, Angelo asserted that the “Simple Life” star needs ‘special medical, spiritual, and psychological therapy’ that the Los Angeles County jail cannot provide.

“I am sure there are people out there today who will not be satisfied even if [Paris] is found hanging by a bed sheet in her jail cell,” Angelo said. “This is not the time to be looking for blood through a long drawn out process, but to find a way to help Hilton.”

Angelo himself is no stranger to police custody as he served two and a half years in federal prison in the ‘80s for two counts of cocaine possession. The experience moved him to become a Christian and he has been a minister for the last 26 years. Just as serving his sentence changed his outlook on life, Angelo feels the few days Hilton served opened her eyes and will motivate her to never repeat the mistakes of her past.

“That is the blessing of incarceration,” Angelo stated. “I learned it first hand through my own time in prison and can empathize with Hilton’s current situation.”

If the court allows it, Angelo wants to serve the remainder of Hilton’s sentence so she can be treated in a less harsh environment. However, the likelihood of Angelo’s request coming to fruition is slim, particularly given the severe criticism Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca received after he released the hotel heiress only three days after she arrived in jail.

Of course, Hilton is back in jail now, but many are questioning the reasoning behind Baca’s decision which is why the sheriff is set to speak with activist Rev. Al Sharpton this afternoon about the “fairness issue.

Despite outcries of foul play, Baca still insists he only released Hilton to serve her remaining sentence at home because she suffered an “inexplicable deterioration” in her health. The celebutante corroborated that story Sunday when she told Barbara Walters in a phone interview, “”I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage. I was not myself. It was a horrible experience.”

And just as Angelo presumed, Hilton said she has become a different, more spiritual person as a result of her ordeal. “I’m not the same person I was,” Hilton said. “I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me.”

Please - Paris is one of the most spoiled girls in the USA - have her do some justice with her immense fortune which she possesses. She has put herself in jail for she is a bored Trust Fund Baby – and needed a life altering “devastation” to change her destiny. In actuality, she could ‘save’ many parts of this world with her money. “Put your brains to use Bitch.” … and make a true difference in life.

There are children dying in third world countries; people without adequate food and water… and our American air waves are abusing our time with such insignificance news. Great REAL!!!!

I commend Mr. Angelo for offering to serve Paris Hilton’s remaining sentence. I think you will see a different Paris Hilton when she is finally released from prison.

Mr. Angelo definitely did the Christian thing and speaks from prior experience. Jesus has a special place in His heart for hurting people like Paris Hilton.

Mr. Angelo is only following the lead what Jesus Christ would have done. Remember, Jesus teaches forgiveness! Matthew 18:21-35
