Marty Angelo
-Once Life Matters-
Book Review - 09/06
By Bob Silvestri

Local music legend Marty Angelo has written a new book, Once Life Matters, detailing his rise and fall in the music business, his eventually embrace of sobriety and finding a new path as a Christian counselor and speaker.

Angelo has had an almost Phoenix like career first as manager of the Buffalo band Raven that achieved legendary success and then as the originator of the first local then national television show Disco Step-by-Step®. That show helped popularize the Disco craze showing the latest dance moves and songs. However along the way he burned many a bridge mostly due to an appetite for drugs and alcohol. Angelo eventually got sober and found a path thru Christian counseling with prisoners.

The book becomes a little preachy near the end but is still a good read if only for his perspective on his influence to the local and national music scene.
